Prowess aims and objectives
Prowess's vision is equal numbers of women and men starting and growing businesses in the UK.
Prowess is a UK wide advocacy network that supports the growth of women's business ownership through the development of an effective women-friendly business support infrastructure and enterprise culture. We achieve this by raising awareness, providing capacity building support to organizations which provide enterprise support services and by advocacy at national, regional, European and local levels.
Prowess works with its members towards those aims through a number of key objectives:
Promotion and awareness raising
Prowess works to raise the profile of women entrepreneurs and the organisations that support them, bringing women's enterprise into the public arena and providing strong role models for future women business owners.
Policy development and research
As an independent organisation, Prowess plays a leading role in educating and influencing policy makers about the economic impact of women's business ownership. It can also ensure that relevant research is disseminated and that new research on the subject of women's enterprise is coordinated in a cohesive way.
Information
Prowess keeps its members up to date with news and information about women's enterprise support in the UK and internationally. This includes digests of relevant government initiatives, funding information and opportunities, details of new research and information about training and conferences.
Quality
Prowess works with its members to improve the quality of women's enterprise support throughout the UK, and to provide appropriate advice and information to women on the best possible business support. Specialist consultancy, training and development services are available from Prowess to assist business support agencies and development organisations to review and develop women friendly services.
Networking and sharing best practice
As an umbrella body, Prowess brings together its members to facilitate the development and sharing of best practice. It seeks opportunities for joint working and provides good communication links wherever possible.
Above all, Prowess aims to be an effective organisation offering excellent, cost-efficient services.
