The 2nd International
PROWESS conference has been heralded as a landmark event in women's
enterprise development attracting over 300 delegates, including leading
national and international policy makers, key researchers and inspirational
business support providers and businesswomen.
Over
two full and interactive days, delegates celebrated the achievements
so far in encouraging more women into enterprise. Practical solutions
were put in place for driving this forward and accelerating the pace
of change.
Jacqui
Smith MP, Minister of State for Industry and the Regions and Deputy
Minister for Women and Equality, spoke in the first plenary, commenting
on the atmosphere of 'energy and excitement' being generated. She announced
plans for a major tour of the UK regions to emphasise the role of women
business owners in regional economies.
On
the final day the winners of the PROWESS Awards for Outstanding Achievement
in Women's Enterprise Development were announced and seven new organisations
were awarded PROWESS Flagship status.
Delegate
feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with one person commenting:
"If we all go away and implement just one thing that we have
learned from the conference the cascading effect will be overwhelming"
