1. Enterprise Culture
 

1a -Stimulating an entrepreneurial spirit amongst young women.
This workshop shared experiences of different approaches to encourage young women to consider enteprise as a career option. Jane Delfino (Whalley Range High School for Girls), Jane Cooke (Education Advisor and Training Manager, East Midlands and London) Christine Garvey-Hendrickson (Chair, Black Women in Business). 2. Personal and Professional Development

2a - Understanding the viewpoint from across the client/adviser divide.
Demonstrated learning in how to develop a more effective relationship with small business clients.

Mainstreaming Women's Enterprise


3a - Gender agenda - engaging men in the women's enterprise debate.
This workshop explored different ways of getting the women's enterprise message across to a wider population of business support professionals. Using a variety of tools and techniques (including good humour) the workshop broadened the debate on how to get the message across to the uninitiated. Mainstreaming Specialist Approaches

4a - Homeworking: unleashing the enterpreneurial potential of South Asian women.
Presentations from the Asian-e Foundation and London Development Agency on how their approaches to women in enterpise have succeeded.

5. Lessons from International Experience

5a - Diverse messages from the developing world - start up to growth.
A panel led presentation of research papers, 'Women Growing Enterprises: UK lessons from African Experience', from WISE Ltd (Women into Sustainable Enterprise) and, 'Capacity Building for Trainers of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs in India', from Rebecca Bartholomew (Oxford Brookes University).

6. Business Growth and Development

6a - Women and business incubators.
Presentations and debate on the need for, and success rates of, women only and women friendly business incubators. Interactive workshop.

7. Access to Finance

7a - Micro credit for low income women in the East End of London.
A panel led presentation from two market leaders in the supply of micro credit and business support to low income women. The workshop focused on the journeys of the women and the impact on their lives.

8. Social Assets


8a - Social enterprise as an opportunity to enter business and lead.

A panel led workshop, which looked at social enteprise as an opportunity for women to enter business, especially as an opportuntity for women living in deprived areas. It iincluded an analysis of why the social enterprise model has enabled more women to lead vibrant and dynamic organisations. Ali Beth Somers (Social Enterprise London) and Milena Harbach (Sheffield Community Enterprise Development Unit).
